   Shimmer Eye Shadow
What is shimmer eye shadow exactly, many ask. Well, in a nutshell it is an oil based eye shadow that has high pigment levels. These high pigment levels give the skin around the eyes a marble look and glowing shimmer. A popular shimmer eye shadow is an eye shadow that can look and feel natural during the day, but at night is able make you look totally different – especially if you use a great deal of it. A better way to describe this shimmering effect would be to imagine watching a person stepping out of a swimming pool after swimming underwater. The water cascades down their face making it seem to glow, giving the impression it is made of plastic. The effect only lasts for a few seconds and then it is gone and their normal face returns. This is basically what shimmer eye shadow does, except the effect lasts as long as you want.
It appears women involved in modeling, TV and movie production, magazine publication and other fields of entertainment are particularly interested and use shimmer eye shadow more so than the average working girl. It is as if this type of eye shadow is a kind of uniform for the entertainment business and if you watch closely a female Newsreader or female presenter, you’ll notice they all have the “glow” - their faces look plastic. I have to wonder why women would want to spend eight hours a day wearing that kind of eye shadow, surely there are moments when she wants to rip her own face off. If anyone can remember the 1982 classic Ridley Scott science fiction extravaganza, Blade Runner, you may remember the replicant “Pris” played extremely well by Daryl Hannah, throughout the movie she wore, what appears to be black eye shadow, shimmer eye shadow, I would hazard a guess.
Today, wearing makeup on their face for an entire day is not a problem for many women. It appears that cosmetics have evolved over the years and now wearing these “paints”, creams and other indescribable products is not a problem. When a woman returns home from a long hard day at the office, I wonder if one of the first things she does is remove her makeup. I imagine she kicks off her shoes, sits down and picks up the remote, but the cosmetics – do they remain? No doubt when she sheds her clothes and steps into the shower, does her makeup follow other soils down the drain. Shimmer eye shadow is a popular choice.
